What are the Components of My Reading Workshop?

The workshop model to the teaching of reading and writing is a student-centered approach, where the students are active participants of their learning.
1.       Mini-lesson
a.        Curricular Pacing Instruction
b.       Instruction based on feedback from conferencing with students or assessments
2.       Transition
3.       Workshop Time
a.        Daily 6 Reading Activities for Students
b.       Conferring and Small Group Instruction for Teacher
4.       Transition
5.       Sharing and Reflection
a.        Students practice higher levels of taxonomy by sharing their learning both what worked and did not work in their learning for the Student Work Time
b.       Opportunity to practice Listening and Speaking
