How Do I Teach a Mini-Lesson?

There are two purposes for using mini-lessons as part of the teaching-learning process. It is used for introduction of curricular pacing content expectations and re-teaching instruction based on conferencing with students and assessment data.

A mini-lesson consists of:
1.       Short, teacher directed lesson
2.       Teacher introduces one skill/idea/strategy.
3.       Teacher modeling or demonstrating skill.
4.       Students practicing a skill.
